As everyone headed their separate ways, Thea approached Tony and asked, “How long will you stay in Miami?”

“Until I’m sure Andie is safely tucked away,” he answered, just then noticing that Andie was following Evan Markham out of the room. “I’m speaking on Miami Beach Monday morning. Then, well, I’m not sure what I’ll do.” He looked toward Evan. “A lot depends on that young man.”

Thea followed Tony’s gaze. “Where will you stay?” she asked.

“We’re booked into a hotel.”

Thea seemed surprised. “But Miss Shay thinks you’re in danger too. A hotel seems so public.”

“She’s right, sir,” Warren said from his post at the door.

Before Tony could object, Thea eagerly suggested, “But I can house you and all your staff on a private estate surrounded by a high, gated wall. We’ve got cameras and security sensors surrounding the whole property. It belongs to my employer, who only uses it a couple of times a year. I can get his permission within the hour, and you can move right in.”

Tony cocked his head at the woman as if uncertain of her motive. “Ma’am, I’m grateful for your offer and—”

“And we think it could be just the place for Mr. Ryborg to spend a few nights,” Warren jumped in, obviously ignoring Tony’s silent reprimand. “Of course, I’d need to inspect the property first and, uh, do a bit of a background check. Procedure, you understand.”

“Yes, I understand that none of you know me, though Andie has made something of a safe haven of my home already. And I’m so pleased to offer it now to you.”

That evening, Thea would lead Tony, his aides, and a contingent of law enforcement personnel to the secluded home on the bay. Against the pull of his own heart, Tony had decided Andie should remain separate from him for her safety.
